Additional OS X 10.4 FAQs
- Right Click (Control+Click) on a PDF file and select the item "Get Info" from the drop-down menu
- Click the small arrow next to the text "Open with" to expand the menu
- Click the drop-down menu where you see "Preview (default)"
- Select "Adobe Reader 7.0.X"
- Click the "Change All..." button below your selection
- A pop-up window will warn you of the change you are about to make. Click "Continue"
- All PDF files will now open with Adobe Acrobat Reader instead of Preview.
Unfortunately, no. While Safari in OS X 10.4 integrates the 'Preview' application for in-line PDF rendering, Firefox has no such option, either with 'Preview' or with Acrobat. Since Adobe has not stepped forward with a compatible Firefox plug-in as with other platforms (Windows, Linux, etc.), you will have to view PDFs using a stand-alone application like 'Preview' or Acrobat.
In the OS X menus, I see symbols that are supposed to correspond to keystrokes, but I don't know what keys these symbols represent. Do you have a list of these magical Macintosh key symbols?
The often confusing Machintosh key symbols found in menus denoting keyboard shortcuts can be seen in the chart below:
