X-ray Spectroscopy of Local AGN: What is Really Coming from the Inner Disk?
Jane Turner
XMM and Chandra data have recently revealed complex and exciting
behavior in the Fe K band of Seyfert-type AGN, including
rapid variations in line energy and
a tight correlation of the ionized line component with flux in at
least one source. These strengthen the often-debated assertion
that a significant
fraction of Fe Ka emission originates from the inner accretion disk.
I explore the new results and present a new method of examining X-ray data
that yields insight into the correct deconstruction of these complex spectra
and hence the true origin of some components of emission.
